Situation & Task
While I am still learning, I am using Git to manage and save my coding work, ensuring proper version control throughout the project.
Action
After every coding session, I commit and push my changes with clear, descriptive messages explaining what I added or modified. This practice helps track progress and maintain an organized project history.
Result
Using Git allowed me to keep a reliable record of my work, and recover previous versions if needed.
Reflection
This experience reinforced the importance of version control and documentation in coding projects. Even as a learner, consistent Git usage ensures better project management.
Using Feedpulses for Feedback
Situation & Task
During my work, I had access to Feedpulses, a system for logging feedback moments with teachers. The task was to ensure I could capture input and improve my work based on guidance.
Action
Although I actively completed my work, I did not use Feedpulses as often as I could have. This was partly because I was deeply focused during sessions, and partly because teachers were not always available at the moment.
Result
While my work progressed, I missed opportunities to gather timely feedback that could have helped me refine my work or explore alternative approaches.
Reflection
This experience reminded me of the importance of actively seeking feedback, even when immersed in tasks. Going forward, I plan to use Feedpulses more consistently to ensure I benefit from teacher insights and improve my workflow.
Team Organization via Discord
Situation & Task
To stay organized and coordinate work efficiently, our team needed a central platform for communication and file sharing.
Action
We primarily used Discord for team communication. I helped set up channels and categories for different subjects, shared files, and utilized pinned messages to highlight anything important.
Result
Discord allowed our team to collaborate smoothly, keep resources organized, and maintain clear communication throughout the project.
Reflection
This experience reinforced how digital tools can streamline teamwork, helping teams stay coordinated, document important information, and maintain accessibility across multiple contributors.
Workshop Poster Exercise: Practicing Composition and Mood
Situation & Task
During a workshop, we were given a small in-class assignment to create a poster. The goal was to practice emphasizing key elements and setting a specific mood or atmosphere in a design.
Action
I sketched a poster aiming to convey silence and solitude. Seeking feedback, I consulted my teacher, who recommended exploring the Golden Ratio to improve visual balance. I researched the concept further and applied it to the composition, adjusting the text placement to better align with the rule of thirds and enlarging the mountain element to emphasize scale and solitude.
Result
The revised poster achieved a stronger sense of balance and mood. The adjustments made the design more visually engaging and aligned with the intended atmosphere.
Reflection
This exercise highlighted the value of iterative design and feedback. By combining teacher input with research, I improved my understanding of compositional principles like the Golden Ratio and learned how small adjustments can significantly enhance mood and clarity in visual storytelling.
Portfolio Website Concepting
Situation & Task
As part of my personal work, I needed to create a portfolio website to showcase my projects. The goal was to establish a functional and visually coherent site while balancing time between personal and group projects.
Action
I sketched two quick concepts, experimenting with different color schemes and altered layouts. Although the ideas were simple, they met my immediate goals for the semester. I ultimately chose the purple concept because it was easier to work with and provided a cohesive starting point for further development.
Result
The selected concept gave me a clear foundation for building my portfolio website while allowing me to focus more energy on group projects and enjoy the creative process without overcomplicating it.
Reflection
This stage reinforced the importance of prioritization and practicality. By keeping the website simple yet functional, I could manage my time effectively while still achieving a personal creative outcome that aligned with my semester goals. However, I regret not using Figma to establish consistent page layouts across the entire site. I will definitely be using Figma next time.
